  • Bought it New in 02 and still have it in 17

I bought my 2003 Grand Am GT1 brand new in December of 2002. I take very good care of my car and right now have over 390,000 miles on the original engine. Sure parts have been replaced over the year with regular maintenance. But what car doesnt. Interior is in mint condition, dash did have some warping at the edge by the glass, but a 100 fix at a local upholstery shop fixed that very easily. Saw some posts about problems the car has had after someone bought it used, If you didnt buy it new, you inherit anything the previous owner neglected or didnt fix, so dont blame the car if you arent the original owner. I am finally putting an new engine in my car, she drives great, handles very well and is a great car.

I have had a 2001 GT Coupe for a few months and it has been awesome. Aside from the dashboard warping and some minor cosmetic flaws, the car has been great. The performance and looks are very impressive for a cheap car. Has been very reliable so far. Great fun car for people not wanting to spend a lot.

I have owned this car from day 1 and it has 179k miles on it. The engine has only had oil & filter changes by me and a plug and wire set at 100k. Trans just had fluid replacement. Front brakes have been a weakness as the calipers needed replacing. Orig set failed at 25k under warrantee though. Dealer did replace some interior trim and the radio under warrantee again but no problems since. Ride has been tight even after 10 years. This was a the first year remodel. Body finish has withstood 10 New England winters with a bit of surface rust at lower door edges.
